Rhodochrosite is a mineral composed of manganese carbonate, with the chemical formula MnCO₃. This mineral is distinguished by its pink to bright red color, often mottled with white bands. It is found mainly in hydrothermal formations or in deposits of metals, particularly manganese. Its vivid colors and diverse shapes make it a highly prized stone for collectors.

Rhodochrosite crystallizes in the trigonal system, and its crystals can be rare. Most of the time, it occurs in massive form or in concentric layers. It has a hardness of 3.5 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale, making it relatively fragile and sensitive to scratches, yet highly prized for jewelry and decorative objects.
