Description

Specimen overview

This rhodochrosite from the Madan mining district, Bulgaria, displays particularly dense pale pink crystallisation. The surface is made up of numerous closely grouped small crystals, forming rounded aggregates and a finely crystallised relief across much of the specimen.

The different faces show variations in the density and arrangement of the crystallisation, with colours ranging from very pale pink to slightly deeper pink. A few darker minerals appear locally within the specimen without detracting from the predominance of the rhodochrosite. The video provides a clearer view of the specimen’s volume and crystallisation from different angles.

Provenance

This rhodochrosite comes from the Madan mining district, Smolyan Province, Bulgaria, a region known for its lead-zinc deposits and collectible rhodochrosite specimens.
