Minéraux du Mali
Mali offers collectible minerals with a distinctive character, particularly from the Kayes region. Prehnite, often associated with epidote, can form rounded pale-green aggregates that contrast with the darker crystals of epidote. Green garnets are another characteristic feature of this provenance. Depending on the specimen, the interest lies in the quality of the crystallization as well as in the colours, relief and mineral associations.

Prehnite, epidote and green garnets: characteristic minerals from Mali
Prehnite holds an important place in the current selection. Specimens from Kayes frequently display rounded or botryoidal formations, with shades ranging from very pale green to deeper tones. When associated with epidote, the contrast between the lighter prehnite and the dark green crystals gives each specimen a distinctive appearance.
Green garnets from Mali represent another mineralogical expression of the Kayes region. Some specimens display well-defined crystals, sometimes on matrix, with colours that may vary according to their composition and transparency. Their geometry, the sharpness of their faces and the depth of their colour are all features of interest to collectors.
Kayes and the Bafoulabé area: a recognised mineral locality
Located in western Mali, the Kayes region includes several areas known for their collectible minerals. Within the Bafoulabé Cercle, particularly around the commune of Diakon, several sites have produced specimens that have become characteristic of this provenance.
