This prehnite forms a compact structure composed of well-developed rounded masses arranged in relief. The main volumes consist of large globules, giving the specimen a balanced and homogeneous appearance.
At the back and along one side, an elongated dark crystal is visible, attributable to epidote.
Prehnite is named after the Dutch colonel Hendrik von Prehn, who described it in the 18th century in South Africa. It is considered one of the first minerals to be named after a person.
This specimen, collected in 2005, comes from Kayes, Mali, a region known for producing prehnite associated with epidote.
Dimensions: 38 mm (width) × 27 mm (height).
