Description

Specimen overview

This specimen consists of two well-developed main cleophane crystals that are closely intergrown. Their colour appears almost black in the thicker areas, while the edges and thinner sections reveal olive-green tones under the light.

The surfaces alternate between lustrous faces, growth planes and more irregular areas bearing several secondary crystals. Viewing both sides reveals a complex crystallisation, with two clearly defined main forms and a concentration of intergrown crystals in the central area.

This specimen comes from the 9th of September mine in the Madan mining district, Bulgaria. It was collected in 1990.
