Pyromorphite Hunan China

An unusual light green pyromorphite from Hunan province, China (year 2003).

Dimensions: length 35mm x width 35mm x height 28mm.

Weight: 65g with base.

Chemical formula and composition: Pyromorphite has the chemical formula Pb₅(PO₄)₃Cl. It is composed mainly of lead, phosphate and chlorine.

Hardness on the Mohs scale: 3.5 to 4.

Density: 6.5 to 7.1 

Color and possible variations: green, yellow, orange, brown or even colorless pyromorphite. The green color is due to the presence of copper, while other impurities may cause color variations.
