Specimen overview
This specimen combines numerous reddish-orange vanadinite crystals with bladed white barite crystals. The vanadinite crystals are distributed along the edges and between the barite blades, displaying clearly visible prismatic forms and lustrous faces.
The arrangement of the two minerals creates a strong contrast between the red to orange tones of the vanadinite and the white to cream shades of the barite. The vanadinite crystals cover a large part of the specimen and emphasise the bladed and fan-like structure of the barite.
Provenance
This specimen comes from Mibladen, Morocco, a mining district in the Midelt region particularly well known for its vanadinite specimens. It was collected in 2008.
