This azurite from Kerrouchen, Morocco, collected in 2019, shows a compact crystal with a well-defined outline, displayed on a base. The specimen has distinct faces, marked relief, and a visible termination.
The colour is a very dark blue to deep blue, almost black from some angles, yet under light it reveals brighter blue reflections characteristic of azurite. The video also makes it easier to appreciate the variations in surface lustre, as well as the contrast between the darker areas and the brighter parts of the crystal.
With dimensions of 26 x 17 x 30 mm and a weight of 25 g including the base, this small azurite is presented in a compact format. Azurite is a hydrated copper carbonate with the formula Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2, appreciated for the intensity of its colour and the lustre of its crystals.
