This association of azurite and malachite comes from the Bou Azzer mining district in Morocco and dates from the 1990s.
The piece features several aggregates of deep blue to violet-blue azurite, composed of intergrown bladed crystals. They develop on a pale beige to ochre matrix, accompanied by areas of finely crystallized green malachite.
The contrast between the deep blue to violet-blue tones of the azurite, the green areas of malachite and the beige to ochre shades of the matrix clearly distinguishes the two copper minerals.
The stone measures 49 × 32 mm. It is mounted on the base of a clear acrylic display box measuring 55 × 40 × 32 mm, suitable for both presentation and protection.
