Specimen overview
This beautiful blue-green fluorite from Jalingo, Nigeria, displays a dense crystallisation composed of numerous intergrown cubic crystals of varying sizes. On the main face, a fine white crystallisation of quartz extensively covers the fluorite and outlines the cubes, creating a strongly textured surface.
Beneath this quartz covering, the fluorite crystals remain clearly visible. Their colour ranges from bluish green to darker green depending on crystal thickness and lighting. Some areas appear more translucent, while others display deeper tones.
The rear face has a very different appearance. Quartz is much less abundant there, allowing the cubic fluorite crystals to be seen more directly. This view provides a clearer look at their structure, flat faces and intergrowth, with a more uniform blue-green colour across much of the specimen.
The video particularly highlights the contrast between one face extensively covered with quartz crystallisation and the opposite face where the fluorite is more exposed.
