What is liddicoatite?
Liddicoatite is a tourmaline species rich in calcium and lithium. Recognised as a distinct mineral species in 1977, it was named in honour of Richard T. Liddicoat, an American gemologist and former president of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and a major figure in modern gemology.
