Specimen description

This amethyst crystal from Brazil comes from an old collection. Presented vertically on an acrylic stand, it is distinguished by its massive form and well-developed termination.

The purple colour is mainly concentrated in the upper part of the crystal. It appears more intense across the terminal faces, then gradually becomes paler towards the lower section, which is clearer and more translucent.

Several internal variations are visible, including cloudy areas, inclusions and growth lines. Depending on the orientation of the specimen and the lighting, the terminal faces reflect the light strongly and reveal different shades of purple.

Origin: Brazil

Brazil is one of the world’s major sources of amethyst. Its deposits are particularly known for producing individual crystals, crystal groups and geodes displaying purple colours of varying intensity. This specimen belongs to that Brazilian mineralogical production.

The stone measures 59 mm in length, 63 mm in width and 100 mm in height. It weighs 583 g including the acrylic stand.
