This amethyst from Morocco was collected in 2018. The specimen consists of a cluster of amethyst crystals of varying sizes, arranged around several well-defined points. A larger crystal occupies the central area, surrounded by broader crystals and smaller secondary terminations.
The colour ranges from pale violet to deeper purple tones. Some lighter areas show partial translucency, while other sections display a denser violet colour.
The specimen is presented on a transparent stand. It measures 80 mm in length, 50 mm in width and 50 mm in height. Its weight is 255 g including the stand.
Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz, with the chemical formula SiO2. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, although it should still be protected from impacts that could damage the crystal points.
