This amethyst from Brazil comes from an old collection. The specimen forms a compact crystal cluster developed on a pale matrix, which remains visible along the sides and on the back.
The surface is covered with numerous crystals of varying sizes. Several larger points occupy the central and upper sections, surrounded by smaller, closely intergrown crystals. This arrangement creates a dense relief, with many visible terminations across the specimen.
The crystals include areas of varying translucency. Their colour may appear from pale violet to deeper purple tones depending on their thickness, orientation and the lighting conditions.
This amethyst measures 160 mm in length and 120 mm in width. It weighs 1,390 g.
Brazil is one of the world’s leading producers of amethyst. Important deposits are found particularly in Rio Grande do Sul and Bahia, two regions well known for their amethyst production.
