Amethyst - Morocco | Ref. 254

This amethyst from Morocco comes from an old collection and was collected in the 1970s. The specimen rests on an irregular matrix supporting several groups of crystals arranged at different heights.

The rear section forms a broad, almost vertical structure densely covered with closely packed crystals. At the front, the crystallisation is lower and less continuous, leaving more of the matrix visible. On the left, a second crystallised formation stands apart from the main section.

The crystals vary in size and display numerous visible terminations. Their colour may appear lighter or deeper depending on the angle of the specimen and the lighting conditions, ranging from pale violet to more pronounced purple areas.

The specimen measures 86 mm in length and 59 mm in width. It weighs 150 g.

Amethyst is a variety of quartz. To help preserve its colour, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided.
