This specimen comes from the Fontsante mine, an iconic deposit in the Esterel massif, now closed. This piece was extracted during the 1980s, a flourishing period for mineralogy in the Var region.
The mineral features a partially globular (or botryoidal) habit, forming rounded clusters on the surface. Its forest green color is deep and highly saturated. The surface has a micro-crystallized appearance that produces a shimmering luster, often compared to a frosted finish.
The fluorite developed on a white baryte matrix. On the back and upper part of the specimen, the tabular baryte crystals that serve as the support for the fluorite can be observed.
This raw piece from Tanneron measures 64mm in width and 52mm in height, for a weight of 170g (including the base). It is sold with its acrylic display stand and has not undergone any human transformation.
