Specimen overview

This blue celestine from Madagascar displays a cavity lined with numerous crystals in pale blue to bluish-grey shades. Most of the crystals are translucent, vary in size and form a dense crystallisation across the central part of the specimen.

Several thick, well-individualised crystals stand out clearly from the cluster. Their flat faces and terminations reflect the light, while smaller crystals fill the spaces between them. The colour appears more or less intense depending on the thickness of the crystals and the angle from which they are viewed.

The pale white to beige matrix surrounds the crystallised area and creates a distinct contrast with the blue tones of the celestine. The video shows that the crystals also extend across the upper and side sections, while the rear of the specimen has a more massive structure with a larger proportion of visible matrix.

This specimen comes from Madagascar, a locality known for its translucent blue celestine crystals.
