Dioptase is a magnificent mineral, recognizable by its emerald-green color. Often compared to emerald for its color, it is distinguished by its well-formed crystals.
Dioptase is a hydrated copper silicate (CuSiO₂(OH)₂) that forms mainly in areas of copper deposits. It often appears in rock cavities in association with other copper minerals such as malachite or azurite. It is particularly common in arid zones, where the circulation of underground water, combined with copper deposits, favors the formation of this mineral.
Color: Emerald green to bluish green.
Hardness: 5 on the Mohs scale.
Density: Approx. 3.3 to 3.4 g/cm³.
