About this specimen

This very pale blue fluorite from Le Burc, France, is dominated by a particularly well-formed cubic crystal on its main face. Its broad flat faces and clearly defined edges give this part of the specimen a very regular geometry.

The crystal is translucent and displays a relatively uniform very pale blue color, with slight variations in intensity depending on crystal thickness and lighting. Several faces also show fine growth textures and markings, especially visible when light reflects across their surface.

The back of the specimen shows a more irregular morphology, with several growth areas and smaller associated crystallizations. This difference from the main face makes it possible to observe several aspects of crystal growth on the same specimen.

Cubic fluorite crystallization

Fluorite (CaF₂) belongs to the cubic crystal system and commonly develops cubic crystals. In this specimen, this geometry is particularly clear on the main crystal, whose faces measure approximately 28 × 28 mm.

The main interest of this specimen lies in the quality of the large cubic crystal, which is well individualized and particularly clear on the front face.
