This fluorite with white barite comes from the Fonsante mine (Var, France), a locality well regarded by collectors. The specimen measures approximately 56 mm in width and 59 mm in height. The fluorite shows very light tones, with clean planar faces and subtle internal variations that become more apparent as the light angle changes.
The barite appears as small bladed crystals and pale plates nestled between the fluorite surfaces, creating a gentle contrast and highlighting the interest of a fluorite–barite association. The piece is documented as dating from the 1980s, a period often associated with classic French collector material from this area.
Located on the Tanneron massif, the Fonsante mine was worked until the mid-1980s and is known for producing a range of fluorite specimens, frequently accompanied by associated species such as barite. This local context helps explain why this French provenance remains a consistent point of interest in many collections.
