This baryte on quartz from the Zlatograd mine, Bulgaria, collected in 2008, shows several large tabular baryte crystals set on a light quartz matrix. The specimen has a very pale colour, ranging from slightly creamy to nearly colourless depending on the area, with variable transparency from one crystal to another.
With dimensions of 83 mm in width and 47 mm in height, this piece weighs 245 g including its support. The Zlatograd mine is one of the Bulgarian localities regularly represented in mineral collections, and also on our site through various mineral specimens.
