This dioptase from Mindouli, DR Congo, shows a small group of well-developed green crystals gathered on a small matrix. The piece displays several clearly individualised crystals with visible faces.
With dimensions of 32 mm in width and 32 mm in height, this mineral retains a clear crystallisation at this size. Displayed on a base, this piece is well presented.
Dioptase is a hydrated copper silicate with the formula CuSiO₃·H₂O. It mainly contains copper, silicon, oxygen, and water in its structure. Its hardness is generally around 5 on the Mohs scale.
